Website Analysis

Beyoncé uses intertextuality to promote the new Lion King movie on the front page of her website as she is ‘Nala’ ( a main character) in the film. Being on the front page the poster is the first thing the audience sees due to the fact its her biggest success this year and the image used emphasises her proudness of being in the movie. A mid shot is used of herself & the character to enhance a significant connection between the two, low key lighting is used to highlight the passionate, intense narrative of 'The Lion King'. There is a link to a 45 second trailer of the film of which she is singing throughout, which establishes an instant link between Beyonce & the film, also the new music being released from the film.
By scrolling down the website, there are a endless variety of photos of Beyoncé herself & some of her husband (Jay Z). This includes photography shoots, selfies, paparazzi event photos etc, its like a collage of Beyonce's favourite moments of her career so far. This particular image highlights the fact she is extremely serious about her music and the many other things she has accomplished, which is reflected within her facial expression & her plain, neutral coloured clothing, however this contrasts with an image of glitter which could suggest that even though she has a serious side, she likes to be feeling ‘glam’ and it also symbolises that her music can bring joy & happiness even in the darkest times.

By pressing the 3 lines in the left hand side corner of the website, a contents page appears which consists of: all the music she has ever produced with links to the music videos, ability to buy the album, lyrics, credits, there’s all her upcoming tour dates, links to charities like UNICEF she is part of where you can donate, her clothing line, a huge photo gallery & a link sign up to have exclusive access. The black & white theme is used which enhances the sophistication, strength & confidence of Beyoncé and the simplicity doesn't distract the audience from her beauty. This encourages the audience to participate in a variety of ways which will make them connect more with the artist and they have access to her personal life and all of her successes which she has shared with her fans.
